Classes Offered

CREATIVE DANCE

Creative Dance (2+years) ~ This is a fun introductory class that will introduce students to dance. Creative movement and activities help introduce the beginning fundamentals of ballet and tap. Students also play games which enhance cognitive & social development and learn classroom etiquette.

BALLET
Ballet/Jazz/Tap (4-6years) ~ This introductory dance class focuses on the basic dance techniques of ballet, jazz, and/or tap. They will also study a series of stretching exercises. Students will learn combinations that enhance cognitive & social development & prepare them for further dance training.

Beginning Ballet (1st, 2nd Grade) ~ In this class, students will be introduced to basic ballet fundamentals; including body alignment, vocabulary, basic positions of the feet & arms, and execute beginning dance combinations.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (1st, 2nd Grade) ~ This class will be centered on more intermediate dance technique. Students will move through barre, center work, & progressions which include basic turns, jumps, & leaps.

Beginning Ballet (3rd, 4th, 5th Grade) ~ This class will include students with no previous or little training. Students will learn beginning barre, center work, & progressions appropriate to their curriculum.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (3rd, 4th, 5th, Grade) ~ This level of ballet is structured to provide more advanced training. Students will learn intermediate/advanced barre, center work, & progressions appropriate to their curriculum.

Beginning (Middle School/High School) ~ This class will include students with no previous or little training. Students will learn barre, center work, & progressions/combinations appropriate to their curriculum.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (Middle School/High School) ~ This level of ballet is structured to provide more advanced training. Students will learn advanced barre, center work, & progressions/combination appropriate to their curriculum.

POINTE
To qualify for pointe work, the teacher must evaluate the student in Ballet Class to make sure the students’ feet and ankles are both strong and flexible enough to stand on pointe correctly; on the tips of the shoes with straight legs and correct posture.

Beginning Pointe (Middle School/High School) ~ Class begins with foot exercises to break in the shoes. Barre work, Plié’s, tendu’s, Rond de jambe’s, stretching, etc. Relevé’s on two legs in center Bourrée’s and simple Adagio for balance control.

Intermediate/Advanced Pointe (Middle School/High School) ~ Class includes foot warm up exercises, and complete Barre including one-leg Relevé’s en Passé, Arabesque etc; then in Center Bourrée, Chaînés, Piqué’s; also Adagio work for balance control. Begin jumping, simple Plié’s Allegro and Grand jeté’s , etc.

JAZZ
Beginning/Intermediate Jazz (1st, 2nd Grade) ~ This class is designed as an introduction to basic jazz technique, focusing on basic jazz positions, turns, jumps, & leaps. Students will also learn center and locomotors progressions as well as proper stretching techniques to enhance strength & flexibility. (Note: This class is not required, but we strongly recommend this class to advance and compliment technique in a variety of other dance styles.)

Beginning Jazz/Fusion (3rd, 4th, 5th Grade) ~ This class will cover a variety of techniques and styles including hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, ballroom, and Broadway on a beginning level. (Note: This class is not required, but we strongly recommend this class to advance and compliment technique in a variety of other dance styles.)

Intermediate/Advanced Jazz/Fusion (Middle School/High School) ~ This class will cover a variety of intermediate/advance techniques and styles including hip-hop, jazz, ballet contemporary, ballroom, and Broadway. Students will advance with their own ability levels through center work & progressions. Students will learn through center work, & progressions/combination appropriate to their curriculum. (Note: This class is not required, but we strongly recommend this class to advance and compliment technique in a variety of other dance styles.)

LYRICAL
Lyrical/Modern Dance Class ~ This dance style combines elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary moves of turns, leaps, and steps that are fluid and expressive in nature. (Note: This class is not required, but we strongly recommend this class to advance and compliment technique in a variety of other dance styles.)

TAP
Beginning Tap (All Age Groups) ~ This class is for the beginning tapper will contain beginning elements of tap – age is relative for all tappers. Student will learn how to use their ankles to tap, not the leg.

Intermediate Tap (All Age Groups) ~ This class with multiple ability levels will focus on intermediate tap fundamentals including basic tap steps and combinations. Advanced Tap (All Age Groups) ~ This class with multiple ability levels will focus on advanced tap fundamentals including basic tap steps, wings, cramp rolls, & pull backs, and other combinations. More advanced students will be given more advanced progressions to suit their skill levels.

HIP-HOP
Beginning Hip-Hop (All Age Groups) ~ Designed for the beginning dancer. This high energy dance class will go more in depth with hip-hop training, including the latest dance trends and break-dancing moves. This class is great for the student who just wants to come & get funky as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip hop skills. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.

Intermediate/Advanced Hip-Hop & X Dancing (All Age Groups) ~ Past hip hop experience is great, but ever student will have a blast in this fast paced, high energy dance class which introduces basic hip hop, the latest trends, & exciting break-dancing moves. Dance conditioning will be introduced to strengthen the body for more advanced hip-hip training. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.

Intermediate/Advanced Hip-Hop & X Dancing (All Age Groups) ~ X Dancing is a blend between two worlds. The structured, disciplined, technical world of theatrical dance and the raw, unrestricted, free form world of street and social dance. The style of X- Dancing takes the fun and joy of free social and street dance moves and blends them with the more controlled and graceful techniques of ballet and jazz. You have to experience X- Dancing to thoroughly understand it. This style creates an extreme dancer. X- Dancers can do a little of everything – hip-hop, jazz, pop locking, ballet, break dance, salsa, etc.
